Backgammon — how to play

  1. Mint moves from point 24 toward point 1; Coral moves from point 1 toward point 24. A checker may land on an empty point, your own point, or a single opposing checker.
  2. The server rolls one opening die per side. The higher side starts using both numbers. Later turns roll two dice; doubles give four moves.
  3. A lone opposing checker is hit to the bar. Re-enter every checker on your bar before moving others. Two or more opposing checkers block a point.
  4. Use both dice when possible. If only one number can be played, use the higher number if legal. Highlighted moves account for the whole remaining dice sequence.
  5. Once all your remaining checkers are in your home board, bear them off. Overshooting is allowed only from the farthest occupied home point. First to bear off 15 wins.
  6. This is a single-game format without a doubling cube. Gammon and backgammon results are reported; there are no wagers or money prizes.

Online deals and dice come from the server. In solo mode you play seat 1; the other seats are computer opponents.
